In order to provide financial assistance to the female students studying in the medical field, the Chief Minister Kanya Kelvani Nidhi Yojana has been implemented by the state government. Under this scheme, financial assistance is provided to female students from families with an annual income of up to Rs. 6 lakh, who are admitted to MBBS on the basis of NEET. Under this scheme, girls studying in MBBS are given 50% tuition fee assistance under the Chief Minister Yuva Swavalamban Yojana in addition to the remaining 50% tuition fee assistance up to a limit of Rs 6 lakh.
Under the Chief Minister Kanya Kelavani Nidhi Yojana, against the target of ₹ 130 crore to 3,750 female students for the financial year 20223, assistance of Rs. 135 crores has been paid to 3,850 female students, thus the target of the scheme for the year 20223 has been met with 102.66 percent. A target of 140 crores assistance has been fixed out of which 2,393 students and assistance worth Rs 81.49 crores have been paid in the first four months of this year.
SHODH scheme of state government for high quality research
Scheme of Developing High Quality Research Scheme has been implemented in Gujarat for high quality research. Under this scheme, financial assistance is provided to students doing regular full time research in PhD courses in recognized government or private universities or institutions of Gujarat.
Financial assistance of Rs 22 crore has been disbursed to 1921 students for research in FY 20223 For FY 2023 24 a target of disbursement of Rs 40 crore has been set to 2000 students out of which Rs 9.40 crore has been disbursed to 1921 students in the first four months of this year. Disbursed Till date a total of Rs 66.78 crore assistance has been disbursed to 2676 students for advanced research under this scheme.
